Yeah, it's been a while. We've been busy....still. Some weather we've been having huh? Ok, Kaleigh update:
She got her top teeth on Christmas day, we thought she got one of them the weekend before, but it went back in for a few days. She also got her first haircut on Christmas morning...a little over 2 inches. She did a good job! When we were looking at her top 2 teeth, we noticed that she had a molar on the top right side. Now she has 2 molars, one on each side. She looks like she is getting a tooth next to each of her top teeth any time. We waited 15 months, and now they are all coming. She doesn't complain...ever. We wouldn't even know that she was getting them if we didn't look. As always she is adding new words to her vocab. and she is also as active as ever. Today we hung a couple pictures, when Kaleigh was taking a nap. When she woke up she noticed them pretty quick and pointed to them. We told her that we had new pictures and then she said plain as day "picture''. She is always looking at books and can show you many of the pictures that you ask her to find (her favorite pictures are currently babies and kittys). Kaleigh is such a smart girl. She had a Dr. appt. last week. Her stats are 27lbs, and 33 3/4 inches tall. Which makes her still in the 90th% for weight, and a little over 97th% for her height. Kaleigh loves each day that she gets to play with her cousins! She is learning so much from them. She is always watching Mae do her preschool work. She loves to color, and seems to be understanding a little bit about colors. I can pick up a blue shape, and tell Kaleigh to get a blue one, and she will every time. Although she can't pick the color out by just name she is very good at matching.
Ok, so quick update on the baby on the way:
Not too much has changed...the baby is "in it for the long hall" according to Dr. Turner (as of almost 5 weeks ago). Baby is nice and high (although finally turned head down) everything is prime for going all the way to the end! I have a nother appt. coming up in a few days. I am looking forward to hearing the baby's heart beat again. I am looking forward to having our little one here...but with this weather I'd almost rather keep it cooking until spring. Although maybe weather will be better in five weeks...somehow I doubt it though. The baby moves around great, and much to my great joy this baby is not nearly as strong in it's movements as Kaleigh was. This baby is sitting in an interesting position (that's for sure!) which feels so different than with Kaleigh. The baby gets hick-ups at least 6 times or more a day. I don't think the baby is a big fan of seat belts. Mae and Thomas fight over whether is it a girl of boy everyday. The good news for them is the one of them will be right. Mae prays for the new baby everyday at lunch. Thomas keeps telling Kaleigh that she is going to be a big sister (although I don't think she is following). He offers to teach her how to have a baby around...he remembers when Mae was born (they are 19 months apart).
As far as Andy and I, well poor Andy is working like crazy right now! He has been working a lot of hours to say the least! But we are proud of how hard he is working on this project. We are hoping that the extra hours will pay off when our little one arrives. I am battling a few extra "life pains" that seem to be worse due to the pregnancy. The kidney stones are a little tough to deal with right now. It's hard to ride in the car or sit or lay down. Between the baby and the stones it isn't too often that I find a position that I can sit in for very long.
Lets see... as I mentioned earlier Mae and I are doing preschool. She know all of her letter sounds, and can write all capital and lower case letters. She has many words that she can spell and read. She is working on her level 1 books. I am so proud of her. We do several pages a day, and love to work on starfall too! Who knew I still had preschool to learn! She is so tall! They grow up way too fast! She knows her phone number and when to call 911 and how to work the phone. All the kids and I worked on fire drills (while it was still warm) and I timed them all. They did great! We learned quotation marks on Thursday last week. She caught on so quick I thought perhaps I didn't explain it right, so she explained it to me...she is SO SMART!!! Her handwriting is better than mine! She can put on her coat and zip it up too! Which is very helpful. Mae is our little Mama! She is so helpful with Kaleigh! The other day she told me Kaleigh needed a diaper change...then ran to get a diaper (without being asked). She came back a few minutes later with a diaper and wipes. Then she said "are these huggies natural fit?" I asked her, totally stunned, "how did you know that?'' She pointed to the diaper...:"it says so right here". Mae is going to be taking dance classes coming up next month.
Thomas is in kindergarten. He is also SO SMART! He can read so well! She is also writing in his journal at school and doing good with math. I printed him out a few 1st grade papers on the Internet the other day. He did amazing! He is wrestling (as well as Evan) and finished his second swimming lesson last week. He is loving it! We made a paper chain with each day on it until the baby comes. The kids loved making it! They kept asking how much longer until the new baby got here...so now the can see how long. They get to take turns ripping off each day. Thomas is always saying how Kaleigh is his favorite baby in the whole world and he loves her soft skin and warn and hands. He is so good with Kaleigh! She loves him so much! She thinks he is a pretty fun guy!
Evan, what can I say about him...he is old! He's a joy to talk to. He is always helpful! He comes home and gets right to work on his homework. I am so impressed with the young man that he is growing to be. He is also an amazing reader! He is also doing wrestling this year. He did football, but of course that's over now. He also has piano lessons every week. He is so sweet with Mae and Kaleigh! He is going to make a great Daddy someday!
Well , as you can see we are busy, but loving life!
